In light of the fact that Ekumfi voted Francis Ato Cudjoe out of parliament in the 2020 elections, President Nana Akufo-Addo has stated that he was blind to developments in the area.
During a meeting with Ekumfi traditional elders at the Jubilee House, the president voiced his displeasure with the Ekumfi constituency’s voting pattern, which resulted in the removal of Ato Cudjoe from Parliament in 2020.
The President lamented that even after designating “him [Ato Cudjoe] as a deputy minister,” the electorate nevertheless rejected him.
“Ato Cudjoe was your MP and I made him a Deputy Minister and you voted him out in the last elections and because of that, I did not pay attention to development in your area, I have to be honest with you but since you have brought it up I will pay attention to it.”
This follows an appeal from the Ekumfi traditional authorities to the President at the Jubilee House to pay attention to development projects in the area in order to raise the standard of living for their people.
President Akufo-Addo promised them that, in spite of his disappointment, he would try his best to see the area developed after listening to their request.
