Ghana defeated Senegal 2:0 in the first leg of their final round FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying match thanks to two goals from Tracey Twum in the first half.
The Princesses started as early as the second minute with a freekick by Maafia Nyame which went wide.
Tracey Twum was in an advanced position when Maafia Nyame and Wasiima Mohammed executed a lovely play in midfield, and the forward made no mistake in scoring the game’s first goal in the fifth minute.
Tracey Twum increased the tally two minutes later when her volley struck the crossbar before soaring into the net for Ghana’s second goal.
The first half ended with Ghana leading 2:0 after chances for goals from Helen Alormenu and Maafia Nyame were not converted.

The Princesses made a strong effort to score more goals, but Senegal’s strengthened defense held them back.
In the 85th minute, Martha Persis Oteng entered the game and took Maafia Nyame’s place.
In the ninetieth minute, Beline Nyarkoh had the final opportunity, but her shot narrowly missed the post as Ghana managed to hold on for the 2-0 victory.
On Sunday, January 21, 2024, the second leg match will be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
