Akufo-Addo

After Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s election as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2024 election, President Nana Akufo Addo has refuted claims that he has devolved into a lapdog role.

Following the vice president’s elevation to the position of party flagbearer, Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin claimed that prominent NPP figures, including Members of Parliament, were turning against the president.

But Nana Akufo-Addo asserted that he will remain in office until January 7, 2025, during a meeting with chiefs and Nima residents in Accra.

Speaker Bagbin claims that I am a weakling. That’s his language, then. I shall hold the office of president of the republic until January 7, 2025. Furthermore, I am confident that I still hold the authority to establish policies and make decisions, and I have no intention of giving it up. Therefore, when he claims that I am a lame-duck president, I have no idea what he is talking about. President Akufo-Addo emphasized, “I am not a lame-duck president.”
