A 128th ranked Comoros defeated Ghana 1-0 in Moroni thanks to a fantastic solo goal by Myziane Maolida in the World Cup qualifier Tuesday.

The goal came in the 43rd minute after Ghana’s Semenyo had missed a sitter early in the 6th minute.

Comoros have now defeated the Black Stars twice in a row.

With six points, Comoros leads Group I, two more than top-seeded Mali.

At the most recent Africa Cup of Nations, Comoros also surprised Ghana by winning 3-2; the Black Stars were forced to exit the competition in the first round.

Chris Hughton, the coach of Ghana and a former Premier League manager, will be under more pressure to win after three losses in four games.

Ghana still has eight qualifiers left to turn things around and improve their chances of competing in the 2026 World Cup
