GFA

With immediate effect, the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council has issued a temporary injunction prohibiting Bofoakwa Tano FC from calling Sunyani Coronation Park their home ground.

The injunction followed violent incidents in the November 19 match between Bofoakwa Tano FC and Nsoatreman FC on Match Day 11.

The GFA Premier League Regulations Article 14(2), among other things states that “the GFA may order the closure of any league center where the safety of clubs, match officials, or spectators cannot be guaranteed.”

In compliance with Article 14(3) of the Premier League Regulations, it is therefore recommended that the Competitions Department choose the location for the Club’s upcoming home games.

This order does not, however, affect the outcome of the case that is still pending before the Disciplinary Committee, which has been tasked with hearing the matter in compliance with the applicable regulations.

The GFA notes the inappropriate behavior displayed by the home team’s supporters, Bofoakwa Tano FC, and categorically denounces the infractions of the Premier League, Safety and Security, and GFA regulations that occurred during the game.

The Disciplinary Committee is to meet as soon as possible, and the GFA Prosecutors have been tasked with reviewing all of the video evidence and match reports in order to recommend appropriate charges.

Bofoakwa Tano supporters are accused of attacking Maxwell Konadu, the coach of Nsoatreman FC, and beating him up.
The football team claims that its coach was attacked “because he picked up a point in a game that ended in a draw with the home team Bofoakwa Tano.”

The supporters of Bofoakwa Tano are said to have also beaten up referee Robert Musey and his assistants.
