The Ghana Football Association has announced that Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium will host Ghana’s International friendly game with 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup champions Mexico.
The much anticipated game will be played on Saturday, October 14, 2023 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the MexTour.
”The Ghana Football Association, the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) wish to announce that Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium has been selected as host of the October 14 MexTour International friendly match, between 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup champions Mexico and African powerhouse Ghana” the GFA announced on Tuesday.
The four-time African champions have endured mixed results since their shambolic group stage exit from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Explaining the relevance of this friendly, the GFA revealed ”this International friendly forms part of Ghana’s preparations for important competitions such as the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November and the Africa Cup of Nations in January next year”.
Ghana will later play the US National team at GEODIS Park in Nashville on October 17 before wrapping their tour of the United States.
The Black Stars and Mexico have been involved in three games since 2006. With the Mexicans winning all 3 games.
