Hamburg star Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer has received a call-up into the Black Stars squad to replace injured Inaki Williams.
The Athletic Bilbao forward ruled himself out of Ghana’s AFCON qualifying match against Madagascar on Monday as a result of an injury to his right knee.
“Since a few weeks I’m playing with pain in my right knee. I’ve decided to play until the end of the season, but talking with the medical services, we’ve decide to stop and solve the problem to stay 100% at the preseason.
This decision wasn’t easy to take because I won’t be able to stay with my national team, Ghana the next meeting.
“I want to say that I am fully commited and I will come back with the Black Stars if the coach deems it appropriate next calls.
Thank you four your support.” Inaki wrote via Twitter on Monday.
According to a communique from the GFA, 21-year-old Königsdörffer ”will join the squad in Accra when they commence camping on June 12 ahead of the qualifier”.
He netted 10 goals in all competitions with an assist in 35 games for Hamburger SV in the just ended season.
The Black Stars will travel to Madagascar for the match which has been scheduled for June 18,2023.
