Senegal defeated hosts Algeria 5-4 on penalties to claim their first TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) in the final on Saturday.
The Local Teranga Lions completed the treble in a year that has seen them lift the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as well as the Beach Soccer AFCON.
The tightly contested finale ended goalless in regulation time and extra time.
Mahious, who had scored five of Algeria’s nine goals at the tournament missed the penalty after a failed Panenka.
Algeria’s Ahmed Kendouci also missed as his failed attempt handed the West African Country their country’s first ever CHAN title.
