Former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has resigned following Ghana’s elimination from the group stage of the 2022/23 FIFA World Cup Tournament.
The 47-years-old gaffer replaced Milovan Rajevac in February as an interim coach but was given a deal until the end of December after beating Nigeria for a slot in the ongoing Qatar 2022 World cup.
Ghana suffered two defeats and won one in Group H of the ongoing World Cup – finishing bottom of the group.
“The decision is not only in my hands, before I even started working with the GFA, everybody knew I had a contract with Dortmund and to even come here was very difficult and the GFA put a lot of effort to get me released,” the Borussia Dortmund trainer said on Saturday.
“What you have to know is the position I have as a talent coach is very crucial to Dortmund. We produce a lot of big talents. It is a crucial and important position for the club’’.
“Normally they won’t have to let me go but because I want to help the country and the GFA went there and had good talks, they released me for six months,” he concluded.
Under the tutelage of Addo, the Black Stars have won four games beating Madagascar and South Korea in competitive games with the other victories coming against Nicaragua and Switzerland in friendlies.
