Ghana’s Black Stars have secured a place in the next round of the 2019 African Cup of Nations after a 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday.
Goals from Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey in the second half silenced the African Wild Dog and sealed the last 16 place for the Black Stars who have been under the sword from supporters at home.
The Black Stars struggled to keep the ball early on, when the Guineans threatened and almost took the lead as Brito Silva’s powerful bending shot was pushed onto the bar by Richard Ofori.
Having survived the early scares, the Black Stars grew into the half and created a number of good chances, the best falling to Jordan Ayew who put through on goal and hit the post.
Ghana avoid an all West African meeting with Nigeria and will now face Tunisia while Cameroon go on to have a showdown with the Super Eagles.
Ghana drew 2-2 with Benin in the first match and played a goalless drawn game against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the second match.
