Mr. Fred Pappoe, the former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) remains confident Ghana will win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) ongoing in Egypt.

Ghana on Tuesday drew 2-2 with ten men against Benin in her opening Group F match and this dashed Ghanaians hope of annexing the trophy, however Mr. Pappoe believes the Black Stars headed by Kwesi Appiah would correct the lapses in their first game and march on to win the trophy that has eluded the country for over three decades.

In an interview with the GNA Sports on Thursday, he said, Ghana was capable of winning the title when the technical handlers and playing body approach the remaining games with the right decisions and framework.

“It won’t be an easy battle putting into consideration the matches played so far but with the level of preparation from the Black Stars, we would have some hurdles to clear going forward to achieve the ambition. I’m sure Ghana is capable of winning the trophy.

“Winning the AFCON should be a collective effort. It is not up to only Appiah. We are all playing a part in this. It is left to the technical team to do whatever they can to deliver their part of the bargain. This is a team work and they need the support. But, there should be a consistent good show from the team from the group stage to the finals to lift the trophy.”

Ghana would lock horns with Cameroon on Saturday and Pappoe, a Board member of Division One Club, Accra Great Olympics expects the technical team to identify and correct the weak areas in the team and urged and the players to do a retrospection and correct where they fall short and utilise the positives to their benefit.

On his part, it won’t be difficult winning the Cameroonians who won their first match 2-0 against Guinea Bissau.
