Black Stars

The Black Stars of Ghana will open their AFCON 2019 campaign against Benin this evening with Jordan Ayew leading the attack.

Coach Kwasi Appiah has kept confidence in the Ayew brothers with skipper Dede Ayew supporting his brother in attack.

Deputy skipper Kwadwo Asamoah and Asamoah Gyan will start from the bench with Mubarak Wakaso maintaining his central mid-field role.

Wakaso is expected to combine with the Athletico Madrid enforcer Thomas Patey .

Thomas Agyepong and Christian Atsu will complete the midfield set up for the Stars against the Squirrels of Benin.

There was little surprise in defence as Kwesi Appiah maintained John Boye and Kassim Nuhu as the defensive pair with Lumor Agbenyenu and Andy Yiadom completing the defensive set up.

Richard Ofori maintains his position in goal for the Black Stars.

The Stars need a win to start the campaign on a good note but the West African neighbours will not be pushovers.

With coach Michel Dussuyer at the helm of the Squirrels, the Stars will have a hard nut to crack and must give everything for victory.
