Ghana’s U20 Female Side head Coach Ben Fokuo has named Afia Nyarko as replacement for skipper Evelyn Badu who sustained an ankle injury ahead of Ghana’s opening match with the USA in the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup.
The Avaldnes midfielder sustained an ankle injury in the team’s training in Costa Rica ahead of the Group D opener against USA today, Thursday at the Estadio Alejandro Morera.
The 2022 CAF’s Young Player of the Year (Women) has been ruled out of the tournament after sustaining the injury and has been ruled out of the tournament following medical advice.
According to the GFA, the change has been approved by FIFA on medical grounds. Afia Nyarko who was with the team until the cut off in France will now rejoin the Ghana squad for the tournament.
The Black Princesses will open their Group D campaign against the United States of America on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at the Estadio Alejandro Morera at 17:00 GMT.
