Ghana were held to a goalless drawn game by South Africa in the final friendly played in Dubai ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

In what was an improved performance, from their last game against Namibia, the Stars came close to scoring but Gyan’s effort went off the bar whilst Atsu’s goal bound effort was cleared off the line.

Coach Kwesi Appiah named what could pass for his starting line up in Egypt with Pate and Kwadwo Asamoah pairing in midfield for the first time.

Jordan Ayew started in front with Asamoah Gyan coming off from the bench. The Stars looked delightful for most part but failed to make it count in the final third.

Even though the team may be disappointed for not winning there are enough positives to take from the match. The Stars play Benin in their opening match.
