Kirin Cup: Black Stars hold first training in Japan

The Senior National team held their training in Kobe on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the 2022 Kirin Cup opener against host Japan at the Kobe City Misaki Park Stadium.

Ghana’s Black Stars contingent arrived in Osaka, Japan on Tuesday night after sharing spoils with Central African Republic in Group E of the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Luanda.

The Kirin Cup (Four nation tournament) which features Tunisia, Chile and host Japan is part of preparations towards the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in November.

The winner of the Japan vs Ghana match will play the winner of the match between Tunisia and Chile for the finals while the two losing teams slug it out for the third place.

18 players are currently in camp in Kobe for the competition as some players have been ruled out of the 2022 Kirin Cup in Japan for varied reasons ranging from injuries, illness and other personal issues.

The 2022 Kirin Cup will take place from Friday, June 10 to Wednesday, June 14, 2022 in Japan
