Government has declared Tuesday, 3rd May, 2022, a statutory Public Holiday.

“The general public is hereby informed that Tuesday, 3rd May, 2022 which marks Eid-ul-Fitr, is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country” the statement signed by the Interior Minister said.

Eid-ul-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm).

The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan.

The end of Ramadan is a big celebration called ‘Eid al-Fitr’: The Festival of the Breaking of the Fast. Muslims celebrate the end of fasting and thank Allah for helping them to be strong enough to fast. Eid al-Fitr officially begins when the first sight of the new moon is seen in the sky.
