Ghana’s U17 Female side claimed a comfortable 3-1 away win over Guinea at General Lansana Conte Stadium in the first leg third round tie of the African qualifiers on Saturday.
The win gives the Black Maidens hope of securing their place in the fourth qualifying round for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, India 2022.
Ghana stormed to an early lead thanks to captain Georgina Ayisha Aoyem in the 13th minute in Conakry.
The ambitious Maidens continued asking questions of the Guinean defence and were rewarded with the second goal through Rasheedat Shahadu’s brilliant strike in the 31st minute.
On return from recess, the hosts pulled one back three minutes after the restart but Mariama Maltiti struck in the 59th minute to ensure the visitor’s claimed 3-1 away victory.
The Maidens have another opportunity to beat their Guinean opponents at their own backyard on April 30 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium during the second leg match to seal a fourth qualifying round spot.
