The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Energy Committee, John Abdulai Jinapor, has expressed disappointment in the Akufo-Addo-led government’s management of the country.
According to him, the administration is incompetent in steering the country’s economic affairs well leading the economy into crisis.
As a result, Mr Jinapor is calling for the dissolution of Ghana’s Economic Management Team.
“This government has been a monumental failure. We call on President Akufo-Addo to dissolve the Economic Management Team because they have not lived up to expectation.
“Indeed, if I was the Vice President what I’ll be doing is to tender in my resignation as the Head of the economic management team. This performance has been abysmal, indeed the failure of this government is legendary,” the MP said whiles speaking with the media.
According to the Yapei/Kusawugu MP, the Atoabo Gas Plant which was set up under the late ex-president Atta Mills and John Mahama’s administration has excess Liquified Petroleum Gas and capacity to supply the country with gas, therefore, called on the government to implement measures for domestic use.
Touching on the increase in petroleum prices, the MP has called on the government to pay attention to the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) for the production of crude oil to help alleviate the prices of petroleum products in the country.
In addition, he added that strategic stocks should be bought by the Bulk Oil Storage And Transportation Company Limited to be used when the country is in recession.
The rapid depreciation of the Ghana cedis has made cedis worst in terms of performance with other currencies has led to the sharp increment in petroleum products and ultimately led to the high prices of commodities, high cost and standard of living in the country which has an adverse effect Ghanaians including Members of Parliament.
