The Black Princesses of Ghana held their official training at the Abebe Bikila stadium in Addis Ababa ahead of their first leg encounter against Ethiopia.

Head Coach Ben Fokuo trained with the full squad that travelled for this crucial encounter.

Even though Ethiopia is known to have a high altitude, Mr Fokuo believes the weather conditions will not stand in their way for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Costa Rica.

“We know the weather already and it is not bad. We had our official training and if you look at how the girls are working hard, you will know the weather is not an issue. The weather is not so different from what we are used to in Ghana”

He added that, the team has prepared hard in Ghana to make it to this stage of the qualifying campaign.

“We have been preparing at Ghanaman and had series of friendly matches. The players want to make it to Costa Rica and their demeanour shows so I know they will get all the maximum points tomorrow”

With the tag as favourites, Ben Fokuo believes it puts no pressure on his team.

“The Princesses have always made it to the World Cup and this won’t be a time to miss out on Costa Rica. We will do our best to qualify and we have taken it game at a time to reach to the last round. We are not under pressure but I know we will go to the World Cup.” he added.

Ghana will now slug it out with the last standing CECAFA representatives Ethiopia for a ticket to Costa Rica.

The Black Princesses are chasing a record sixth straight FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup participation. The Black Princesses made their first World Cup appearance in 2010 and have gone ahead to play in four tournaments on the spin. (2010, 2012,2014, 2016, 2018).

The game is scheduled for 1:00 GMT kick off at the Abebe Bikila stadium, on Sunday.
