Kumasi Asante Kotoko opened a 10 points gap following a 2-0 victory over the Still Believe lads of Dreams Fc in their Premier League Match Day 18 encounter at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors’ Cameroonian striker, Etouga Mbella grabbed a brace to ensure Asante Kotoko increased their lead to 40 points – 10 points richer than second placed Bechem United and 14 points ahead of rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.

The Cameroonian striker who went two games without a goal increased his season tally to 13 after his brace.

The match travelled for 70 minutes before Asante Kotoko got the opener as Dreams FC put up a gallant display to shut the door – making life difficult Richmond Lamptey and Franck Mbella. Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum introduced Mudasiru Salifu in place of Dickson Afoakwa to take control of the midfield.

Franck Etouga was fouled in the box by Dreams FC goalkeeper Augustine Koomson and the referee pointed to the spot and awarded a penalty for the Porcupine Warriors. Mbella picked his spot and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way as Asante Kotoko finally had their breakthrough in the 72nd minute.

Asante Kotoko doubled their lead in the 82nd minute through Mbela – who followed up a rebound to smash home. He received a pass on the edge of the box before firing a shot but the ball hit the base of the post – he quickly went past the defenders before tapping home the rebound.
