The Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Dome Kwabenya constituency is set to make a decision on the absence of the MP for the area, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
Constituency Secretary, Theophilus Abu Larbi, revealed this in an interview on JoyNews Friday.
He indicated that the absence of the MP is indeed affecting the constituency.
Mr Larbi said several attempts to reach madam Safo by both party members and the Council of Elders have proved futile.
The absence of the Dome-Kwabenya MP has raised concerns among the party’s rank-and-file amidst calls for her dismissal.
Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, has accused her of holding the party to ransom.
Polster and editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson, has asked the party to dismiss madam Safo.
He, however, accused some persons within the party of capitalizing on the absence of the MP to create disaffection for her.
Sarah Adwoa Safo had been absent from Parliament for a while following an extension of her leave granted by the President in 2021.
She had become the subject of public debate some months ago following allegations that she was impersonated during Parliamentary proceedings on November 30, 2021, because the Majority side needed the numbers at all cost to approve the government’s 2022 budget.
The controversy was excavated when videos and photos of a woman believed to be an imposter at the proceedings in Parliament went viral on social media.
