CAF’s Disciplinary Board has imposed a three game suspension to Black stars forward Benjamin Tetteh for an assault on a Gabonese player during Ghana’s draw with the Leopards on Friday night at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon.
The match officials indicated in their report that at the final whistle, Ghana player Benjamin Tetteh allegedly assaulted a Gabonese player.
As a result CAF Disciplinary Board decided to suspend the former Dreams FC player for one additional game match in addition to his automatic suspension of two matches. Consequently, the player has been suspended for three matches.
According to a press statement from CAF, Disciplinary Board has issued a stern warning to both teams for their unsportsmanship behaviour after referees’ full time whistle.
Ghana drew 1-1 with Gabon in Group C fixture.
The Black stars came into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Morocco. The four times AFCON champions broke the deadlock through skipper Andre Dede Ayew before Ngowet Allevinah equalized for Gabon late on.
The Black stars desperately need a win against Comoros to boost their chances of a last 16 place.
They currently occupy third spot on Group C.
