Black Stars

Black stars forward Richmond Boakye Yiadom believes Ghana is focused in their pursuit to beat Gabon in their second Group C clash f the ongoing TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon 2021.

While Leopards of Gabon emerged 1-0 victors over Comoros in their group opener, the Ghana Black Stars conceded a 0-1 defeat against Morocco.

The Leopards will come gun blazing as their inspirational captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in contention to face Ghana on Friday.

The pressure is on the Black stars as another unfavorable result could spell doom for them.

On the morale in camp, the Beiter Jerusalem forward is adamant that his sides are fired up for three maximum points.

”I think the morale in camp is okay. Our mind set is to beat Gabon. I always believe that the downfall of a man is not the end of his life and we have been training very hard. We know what is in front of us.

From home, the over 30 million people are very expectant so we being here to participate in the tournament is not just to partake in it but to win and so the agenda is to be I make sure we get to the final.

Whatever happened against Morocco is past; we are focusing on tomorrow’s game which we need to win to take the three points home and I think each and every player has the mind set to take the points so that is what we are thinking about” He said.

A win against the Gabonese will lift up the spirit of the players and the fans as they seek to break the 40 years AFCON Title drought.

The Senior National team sit bottom of the table with no point to their name, the same situation as Comoros who fell to a 1-0 loss to Gabon in the other Group C matchday one fixture.

The game is at 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT) at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, Yaounde.
