The Ghana Police Service says it has interdicted an officer captured in a viral video in a drunken state.

The Police said in a press statement on Wednesday that the officer has been identified and in line with police regulations, has been interdicted to make way for investigation into his conduct.

The uniformed police officer was seen somewhere in Cape Coast in front of a drinking bar with heavy eyes and with wobbly in his steps as he walks.

The Service added that a clinical psychologist has also been assigned him to evaluate him and offer him the necessary support.

“In addition, he will be referred to the Police Medical Board for thorough review and support towards rehabilitation where necessary.”

According to the Police the officer’s suitability or otherwise to remain in the Service will be based on the outcome of investigations and the recommendation of the Police Medical Board.
