GFA Special Competition set to kick off Kotoko face tough Aduana test

Two local giants, Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars, are expected to thrill fans at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi tomorrow when they clash in the Special Competition of the GFA Normalisation Committee.

It will be the first clash between the two powerhouses since football was truncated in the country in June last year following the investigation on bribery and corruption conducted by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

The two teams head into tomorrow’s game with contrasting tales.

While the Porcupine Warriors are returning from a botched CAF Confederation Cup campaign, Aduana may be rusty following the absence of competitive football for sometime now.

Kotoko seem to be favourites as the Baba Yara Stadium has been a difficult terrain for the visitors, with their last visit ending in a 1-2 loss during last season’s league.

At the other centres, Ashantigold welcome Techiman Eleven Wonders to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, with striker Shafiu Mumuni spearheading the Miners’ attack, while Medeama trek to the Golden City Park to battle Berekum Chelsea.

Wa All Stars will welcome Bechem United to the Wa Malik Jabil Park.

Another encounter that will attract the headlines is the mouthwatering clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium in the southern zone.

The Rainbow club and Dreams FC will rekindle their growing rivalry for the second time in two months as Hearts coach, Kim Grant, has fired the first salvo to his opponents to brace for an unforgettable defeat.

Grant masterminded the Phobians’ 2-1 victory over Dreams FC in the recent S.T. Nettey Cup match at the same venue and has assured the club’s faithful to throng the renovated Accra Sports Stadium to witness his new football philosophy that will guide the Phobians to win the trophy and go ahead to play in the CAF Champions League.

At the Cape Coast Stadium, Karela United will play as guests of Ebusua Dwarfs.

The Tema Stadium will see Inter Allies welcoming Elmina Sharks, while the WAFA Stadium at Sogakope will host WAFA and Liberty Professionals.
