Hearts of Oak

Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder, Frederick Ansah Botchway has admitted that they were below-par in his side’s recent awful display in Algeria.

The Phobians crashed out of the Caf Confederation Cup qualifying round following a defeat to the Algerian outfit .

Hearts were humbled in Bechar, as Algeria’s JS Saoura produced an amazing comeback to beat Ghana’s Hearts of Oak 4-0 and reach the group stage of the tournament on a 4-2 aggregate.

The Rainbow club’s disappointment also marks the end of their 2021-22 African campaign, having begun the season in the superior Caf Champions League where they suffered a preliminary second-round elimination at the hands of Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.

The defending Ghana premier league champions, are also winless in four matches in the GPL after three draws and a loss.

They are currently languishing at the bottom end of the 2022\2023 Ghana Premier League table with two outstanding matches.

Ansah Botchway, in a post on Twitter, admitted that Hearts were poor against AS Saoura last weekend but believes they can bounce back in a reply to a fan commending his effort despite the loss.

“Umm thanks and we are pleading with the Phobia family to forgive us for we know we flopped and admit, we feel the pain more but that’s not the end. Soon we will turn the coin and smile together again as one family. We Never Say Die,” he tweeted.

The Rainbow club plays Elmina Sharks next in their bid to turn things around in the Ghana Premier League.
