Hasaacas Ladies are champions of the maiden Women’s Premier Super League after a hard-fought 3-1 win over LadyStrikers in a thrilling final at the Madina Astro Turf Sunday evening.
Veronica Appiah grabbed a brace before Edith Ogbonna registered an own goal to gift the CAF Champions League finalists a well-deserved win.
Appiah opened the scoring in the 14th minute after first taking on two defenders before slotting home.
She again scored the second goal four minutes before the break as she rounded Goalkeeper Ntiwaa Nketia before calmly slotting home to end the first half 2-0 against LadyStrikers.
Gifty Ogbonna scored an own goal as she directed a long Hasaacas set piece into her own net to make it 3-0 for Hasaacas Ladies.
Gladys Amfobea reduced the deficit in the 80th minute before Ellen Coleman brought LadyStrikers within one of Hasaacas when smashed a lovely ball into the left top corner in the 86th minute. The comeback was not to be as Hasaacas Ladies held on to win the contest 3-2 at the Zurak Park at Madina.
The Sekondi based Women’s team finished second in the the first ever TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League competition after having won an unprecedented double; Women’s Premier League and FA Cup in 2021 before traveling to Ivory Coast to win the first ever West Africa Football Union Zone B Women’s Club Championship.
The Women’s Premier Super Cup is Hasaacas’ fourth in the 2020/21 season in five finals.
