Accra Hearts of Oak beat their North African opponents JS Saoura 2-0 in the first leg of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
The win puts the Phobians in pole position for the group stage but they will need to travel to Algeria for the second leg.
Hearts took the lead thanks to Salifu Ibrahim before securing the win through Agyenim Boateng at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Samuel Boadu’s outfit has a second chance to make an impact in Africa this season, after their elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca, 6-2 on aggregate.
The Rainbow club will travel to Algeria next week with a two-goal advantage and will be hoping to seal a spot in Caf Confederation Cup group phase.
