South Africa’s Bafana Bafana were held to a goalless draw by Zimbabwe’s Brave Warriors in the FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2022 qualifiers at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
It was the group’s opening game with Ghana expected to host Ethiopia later in the evening.
Ghana has the chance to top Group G with a win over Ethiopia at the Cape Coast Stadium.
However, the group is expected to be thrown wide open when South Africa clashes with Ghana on Match Day Two while Zimbabwe takes on Ethiopia in the other Group G match.
Only the group winners at the end of the campaign will qualify for the third and final round of the qualification series.
Ghana has qualified for the World Cup on three previous occasions, their last appearance being at Brazil 2014.
South Africa last qualified for the global football showpiece in 2002, before taking part in the 2010 edition as hosts.
Zimbabwe, on the other hand have never qualified for the World Cup before.
