Former Chairman of the National Democratic Congress Dr. Kwabena Adjei has died.
Dr Adjei, 76, died Tuesday morning at the Greater Accra Regional hospital, formerly Ridge hospital after a short illness.
He had only celebrated his 76th birthday three days ago.
It is not clear yet what he may have died from. Sources close to the hospital confirmed the death to Cedidollar.
Dr Kwabena Adjei was elected chair of the NDC in 2004 but lost to Mr Kofi Portuphy in 2008 when he went for reelection.
He was popular for his famous killing the cat comment which he made during allegations of bias in the judiciary.
Before he became chair of the NDC, Dr Adjei served as Member of Parliament for the Biakoye Constituency from 1993 to 1996. He was re-elected in 1996 and served in that position till 2004.
He also served as First Deputy Majority Chief Whip from 1993 to 1994.
The party is yet to officially comment on the death.
