Madam Sandra Opoku, General Manager, Legal, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), has been appointed as the acting Director of the Tema Port.
She replaces Mr Edward Kofi Osei, whose contract at the Tema Port ended on March 03, 2019.
According to a letter from the presidency dated February 4, 2019 and signed by Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, Chief of Staff, which read in part “the President has directed that the extension of the contract for Mr Edward Osei as Director of Tema Port should end on 3rd March, 2019”.
The Ghana News Agency gathered that, Mr Michael Luguje, Director-General of GPHA called the Tema Port management team to a meeting at the Director of Port’s conference room at about 16:00 hours on Monday to deliberate on the issue.
Madam Opoku was employed By the GPHA in 2003 as a lawyer.
She was then sponsored by the Authority to study international maritime law at the International Maritime Law Institute in Malta.
She was appointed General Manager legal, in December 2018, when the then substantive General Manager, Mr Edward Mettle-Nunoo,, retired.
