Kumasi Asante Kotoko secured three points after beating Inter Allies 3-2 in a remarkable game at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu Monday.
The Porcupine Warriors by virtue of today’s win moved level on points with Hearts of Oak (53) with five matches to end the season while Inter Allies’ relegation woes have been deepened after this defeat.
Defender Andrew Kwadwo Appau’s goal settled the contest in Kotoko’s favour after they had been pegged back twice by a defiant Inter Allies side.
Kotoko led in the first half courtesy goals from Emmanuel Gyamfi and Evans Adomako, with Alex Aso halving the deficit for Allies.
Nigerian Andy Okpe’s powerful header from a corner beat the goalkeeper to level proceedings in the 64th minute, but Kotoko went ahead again five minutes later.
Appau rose highest to head home a free-kick delivered from the left wing by Brazilian Fabio Gama.
Inter Allies kept pushing for the equalizer but their efforts weren’t enough as the referee blew his whistle to end the game.
