The Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee has charged Accra Great Olympics on three counts of misconduct for allegedly breaching the GFA Matchday Covid 19 protocols and the GFA Disciplinary Code in the Mantse derby game against archrivals Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to a statement via the GFA website, the Oly club ”failed to comply with the existing Matchday COVID 19 protocols put in place by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Government of Ghana by allowing a large number of supporters into the stadium which exceed the allocated number to be admitted and failing to ensure social distancing and the wearing of nose masks.

Also, the Club is charged for failing to implement existing safety rules and regulations in and around the stadium by failing to ensure social distancing, wearing of nose masks in the stadium and washing of hands at various entry points of the stadium.

The Chief Executive Officer of Accra Great Olympics, Oloboi Commodore has also been charged on two counts of misconduct for comments he made in a radio interview.

The Chief Executive of the Premier League Club in reference to Accra Hearts of Oak allegedly stated in an interview on Happy 98.9FM that ‘if not for dubious officiating they wouldn’t be where they are now’,

The comment is deemed to be an offensive statement which in the opinion of the Association, is ungentlemanly and likely to bring the game into disrepute.

The Club and the official are expected to submit their Statements of Defence or appear in person before the GFA Disciplinary Committee.

The Mantse derby game ended in a stalemate as a stupendous long-range effort from Emmanuel Nettey was cancelled out by a great header from Maxwell Abbey Quaye.
