Accra Hearts of Oak jumped to the summit of the Ghana Premier League table after a hard fought 1-0 win over Techiman XI Wonders at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman.
The win means the Phobians have leapfrogged rivals Asante Kotoko who have a game in hand, against WAFA SC on Saturday.
In form forward, Kojo Obeng Jnr scored the only goal of the game when he took advantage of a defensive mix up to finish neatly past the Wonders goalkeeper.
Hearts were let off the hook, later in the game, when the referee waved play on after the ball appeared to hit Robert Addo Sowah’s arm in the penalty box.
The win is the Phobians’ fourth in a row and their good form takes them to the summit of the league having played one game more.
It’s the first time in five years that Hearts have been on top of the Ghana Premier League table.
Hearts will host Liberty Professionals next in the round of 64 stage of the MTN FA Cup next week at the Accra Sports Stadium.
