The Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBC) has issued a press statement sighted by Cedidolar.com, to condemn the European Union (EU) in Ghana and other individuals who support the practice of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) in the country.
According to the Catholic Bishops, they support Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning’s crusade against homosexuality.
Moses Foh-Amoaning took the European Union (EU) in Ghana to the cleaners for asking Ghanaians to respect and tolerate Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders and other Queer (LBGTQ) individuals in the country. This was after EU representatives in Ghana participated in the opening of a new office space for an LGBTQI rights group in Accra, on January 31, 2021, and stated its support for their activities. Australian High Commissioner, Gregory Andrews, the Danish Ambassador, Tom Nørring and some delegates from the EU were among some of the dignitaries that were present at the official launch of the office for LGBT+ Rights Ghana.
The Executive Secretary of the Coalition, further admonished the police to shut down their activities. He added that EU should not impose their so-called values and beliefs on Ghanaians who are against homosexuality. He said the laws, values and cultural beliefs in Ghana do not allow for such practices.
Adding their voice to the on folding events, Catholic Bishops said they are strongly opposed to the advocacy for the practice of homosexuality in Ghana because the Roman Catholic Church is opposed to this abominable practice.
