The second edition of the Ho Technical University GOIL-CIMG Entrepreneurial Marketing and Innovation Awards was held in Ho, in the Volta Region, with Evelyn Benyiwaa Yankson, emerging the winner.
Miss Yankson, an immediate past student of Hospitality and Tourism Management, beat off competition from six other student entrepreneurs in a business pitching competition assessed by a five-member panel with expertise in business management, marketing and entrepreneurship.
The award was jointly instituted by GOIL and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) in March 2019, and aimed at empowering the youth in local entrepreneurial developments and initiatives among tertiary institutions in the country.
Head of Corporate Affairs of GOIL, Marcus Deo Dake, expressed excitement about the enthusiasm and level of seriousness Ho Technical University (HTU) attaches to the award scheme.
He noted HTU is the only technical university implementing and utilising the funds allocated for the scheme.
He also commended the university management for sustaining the initiative and assured them of GOIL’s continuous support during the period of the sponsorship.
Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, urged students and participants to strive for excellence in their fields of endeavours and expressed his gratitude to the sponsors of the award for their commitment to supporting the HTU project to realise its objectives.
