One person shot dead for snatching ballot box in Awutu Senya West

One person has been shot dead by the police in the Awutu Senya West constituency in the Central Region for attempting to snatch a ballot box.

The deceased person is said to be part of a group of land guards who stormed the polling station shortly after voting ended Monday.

This was confirmed by a Joy News reporter and monitored by Cedidollar.com

The land guards who were on motor bikes had attempted to snatch the ballot box but were stopped in their tracks by the police men on duty.

Apart from the deceased person, the remaining suspects escaped.

The police is yet to publicly comment on the matter.

The report is a dent on an election that has generally been peaceful and orderly across the country.

Over 17 million voters are expected to elect one of the total of 12 candidates are on the presidential ballot with a host of parliamentary candidates across the country
