All is set for the launch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Election 2020 manifesto tomorrow in the Central Regional capital, Cape Coast.
The event, to be held at the New Examinations Centres Hall of the University of Cape Coast, is expected to be attended by a little over 120 members.
It will be projected virtually for members of the party and the general public to watch.
This will be a deviation from the usual outdoor event where thousands of supporters of the party attend.
The restriction of the number of attendees is in line with the observance of strict COVID-19 safety protocol.
Attendees
The Central Regional Secretary of the NPP, Mr Richard Takyi-Mensah, in an interview with the Daily Graphic said due to the safety protocol, only members of the National Council, the second-highest decision-making body of the party, would be present at the launch.
“We do not want to breach the safety protocol because of the manifesto launch, so the usual crowd will not be present. We want a manageable size for the launch,” he stated.
Clear direction
Mr Takyi-Mensah said the manifesto was expected to give a clear direction for the nation’s future and catapult the citizenry into prosperity.
He said it was expected that the manifesto would assess the 2016 manifesto and project key areas that would take Ghanaians to the promised land.
“Ghanaians should expect projections on the good work that is going on now and what will take us to the promised land,” he stated.
Mr Takyi-Mensah said he was optimistic that the success of the launch of the manifesto would further lay a solid foundation for a massive win for the NPP in the December general election.
Hotel reservations
While there were no extraordinary bookings at some of the hotels in the metropolis, others already had all their rooms booked ahead of the launch.
The Manager of the Ridge Royal Hotel, Mr Samuel Obiri Aduamah, said all his rooms were fully booked for the period.
“I have been receiving calls asking if there are rooms, but the place is already full,” he stated.
The Capital Hill Hotel and Sasakawa Guest House at UCC, however, stated that there was not much difference in their bookings for the launch yet.
The Reservations Supervisor at the Capital Hill Hotel, Mr Frank Dallas, said though they had some reservations for the launch, the number was not outrageous.
“We know about the programme on Saturday but it has not reflected in our reservations so much. We are about 20-25 per cent booked now and so we have a lot of rooms,” he stated.
