Kosmos Energy, a partner of Ghana’s Jubilee Fields, has donated some medical equipment to the Ghana Health Service as part of their support towards Ghana’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The gesture forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility to Ghana in the wake of the global health crisis. The equipment include RNA extraction machines and swab kits worth $50,000.

Making the presentation, the Senior Vice President and the Head of Kosmos Energy Ghana Business Unit, Mr. Joe Mensah, said Kosmos Energy is elated to support government’s efforts in the fight against the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

“Kosmos Energy has been in Ghana for a decade, and feels part of the Ghanaian society, hence, it will only be appropriate to support in times such as this. It will be recalled that during the time of Ebola, the company donated medical equipment and other health-related facilities to aid Ghana’s preparation towards prevention of the spread of the disease,” he said.

He advised Ghanaians to follow all health instructions and directives given by the President and the Ghana Health Service in order to stay safe and overcome the pandemic.

Currently, Ghana has 17,741 COVID-19 cases with 13,268 recoveries and 112 deaths.

As of June 30, 2020, there were 24 persons in critical and severe condition with four on ventilators.

The country also has 4,361 active cases.
