Prof Alex Dodoo

Ahead of the festive season, the Ghana Standards Authority as part of its mandate to protect consumers has urged importers to ensure that their imported products meet the requirement of the Ghana Standards Authority.

In an interview with the Ghana Standards Authority, Professor Alex Dodoo said importers must ensure that they do not import any inferior goods into the Ghanaian market.

He also entreated importers to ensure that the right duties are paid at the port of entry in order to avoid any unnecessary confrontation with the Ghana Standards Authority.

Professor Alex Dodoo also advised buyers to ensure they buy from trusted retail outlets and check expiry dates of items before purchasing them.

” As the Director of the Ghana Standards Authority I will like to advise  importers to ensure they pay their right duties  and also to the general public, make sure you check the expiry dates of the products  you buy.”

Touching on the issue of patronising made in Ghana Rice, he said the GSA is working together with the Food and Drugs Authority to support the  Made in Ghana rice campaign.

He said the GSA and the FDA are working together to ensure that made in Ghana rice products are registered and certified by the two sectors as soon as possible.

Professor Dodoo advised Ghanaians to purchase Ghana made products especially registered made in Ghana rice.
