The dates for Morocco’s 2025 hosting of the Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have been formally announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The tournament will return to a nation known for its intense football culture and first-rate infrastructure, taking place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
On June 17, 2024, a press conference was held to make the announcement. Morocco’s capacity to organize such a renowned event is a testament to both its commitment to the growth of football as a sport throughout the continent and its vast expertise in organizing big football events.
Football fans across Africa are excited about the announcement, as they look forward to a competition that will highlight the best players on the continent and encourage harmony and competitive spirit. Teams will try to unseat Senegal, the reigning champions who won the AFCON 2023 championship in Cameroon.
In an effort to honor African football and heritage, a range of fan interaction initiatives and cultural events will be held in conjunction with the competition. It is anticipated that these initiatives will draw thousands of tourists to Morocco, thereby stimulating the country’s tourism industry and local economy.
In order to make sure that AFCON 2025 is a wonderful celebration of African football, showcasing the continent’s passion, talent, and togetherness on the international scene, CAF and Morocco are working closely together as preparations get under way.
