Black Stars

Thirteen players including Captain Andre Ayew were present as the senior National team commenced training on Monday ahead of their 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The players include home-based quartet of goalkeeper Richard Attah and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, of GPL Champions, Accra Hearts of Oak, Kotoko’s Ismael Abdul Ganiyu, and 17-year-old wonderkid Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

The rest of the Black Stars squad were expected to arrive in camp by Monday night as the team departs for Cape Coast where they will be holding their second training session.

The Black stars will play host to Ethiopia in their World Cup opener at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Friday, three days before traveling to face South Africa on matchday two in Johannesburg.

Ghana will do without England-based quintet of Daniel Amartey (Leicester City), Tariq Fosu (Bretford), Jordan, Baba, and Yiadom against South Africa who are on the UK’s coronavirus red list.

Although the quintet are now confirmed to be out of the South Africa decider, they are still expected to join Ghana’s squad for the Ethiopia opener three days earlier.
